I needed some decent lights for night riding and found that commercial ones are really expensive. A bit of web research told me I was not the only one thinking of making my own lights. The latest generation of high power LEDs would seem to be an ideal way of creating the most light for the least battery power. I quite liked the design somebody put on Cycle Chat but thought I could do better with some custom electronics and the bright CREE LEDs. Over the next few weeks I will write up the details of how I did it.
