• 5 - Power Source

The issue of powering an external device has come up, I simply use a cigarette lighter adaptor, however I have been told it is possible to wire up a system to power on and off with the stereo.

  • Using the Powered Aerial Socket

I have not as yet tested this as a potential solution. However it was emailed to me by someone who had seen this site and had an idea for furthering the project. I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

The suggestion is that an external device can be connected to the powered aerial output of the stereo. This output is 12V I believe so would need to be adjusted accordingly, but shouldn't be too difficult to sort out. The main problem will be finding out which pins on the back of the stereo are for the aerial. I orignally found a circuit diagram for an old version of my stereo with the pin outs on it. Good luck if you want to do this and let me know how you get on.
